Notes (S00052)

This was my final opportunity to acquire images of Mars during 2003 opposition prior to dismantling my Dorset observatory.  Some good images were obtained.

Yellow Filter , 0.25 sec exposure (01:32 h UT, #52163)
Blue Filter , 0.50 sec exposure (01:40 h UT, #52169)
Red Filter , 0.50 sec exposure (02:13 h UT, #52204)
8" SCT operating at F/29 through eyepiece projection
Taken on 2003-08-23. Images all unsharp masked
(Filters had to be manually inserted into the optical path, involving
reconnecting the CCD camera to telescope and recentering/refocussing
on Mars each time - hence the large time gap between each image.
Seeing quality had also deteriorated significantly by the time the
red filter image was taken)

Mars rotation over nearly 3 hours
