CCD Images - Session 676 (2019-04-22)

Objects Session Notes
Bullet 46P/Wirtanen - Comet

Bullet Photometric Monitoring - Variables
  - AM CVn, SY Cnc, R CrB, SS Her, CY Lyr

AM CVn & RR Tau attempts failed

Bullet Astrometric Monitoring - Nearby Stars
 - CN Leo

- Late evening / night session,  Duration 2.1hr

Session operated in  fully automated mode, and monitored over remote connection for first part.

After a promising start the observatory computer crashed leaving the observatory open. Upon automated restart of the computer the AstroProtect service intervened to automatically close down the observatory (include closing the shutter and parking both the dome and the telescope)

- Main aim of the session was general observing with mix of variable stars, nearby stars, comets and deep sky targets.

- 12" LX200 + ST-10XME for imaging
- TS 80mm APO + ZWO ASI178MC for guiding & imaging
- Ambient Temperature:  7.0°C (min)
- CCD Temperature:  -15°C  & -18°C  (100% av. power)

46P/Wirtanen - Comet

46P/Wirtanen - 2019-04-22
(passing through Leo Minor)
Sun Distance 1.91 AU
Earth Distance 1.28 AU (191.0 million km)
No sign of comet at expected position (indicated by white circle)
(exposure is almost certaintly too short to see comet given its catalog mag of +18.7 )
Similarly no sign of comet at expected position in an
image (not shown) that stacks 40 x 15s frames
(total exposure 10 minutes)
