2002-03-02 02:09h UT CCD Image, 0.1 sec exposure, (#18507) 8"/f10 SCT with Barlow Showing Mare Tranquillitatis (The Sea of Tranquility) to bottom right with Mare Serenitatis (Sea of Serenity) lies to the upper left. The Large crater between the two Mare is Plinius (diam 48km), with Dawes nearby (diam 23km). The bright crater is Menelaus (diam 32km). A ray lead northwards into Mare Serenitatis passing the crater Bessel (diam 19 km). The smallest visible craters in the image have estimated diameters of around 5km. |
