1685 Toro - Near Earth Asteroid (NEA) / Minor Planet Z And - variable star Astrometric & Photometric Monitoring
- SS Cyg (dwarf nova)
- BL Lac (Blazar)
- TZ Lyr, RX And, RU Peg (variables)
- Evening session (2.1hr), poor sky conditions, cloud developing. - CCD operation of -25 degC (at 72% average cooling). - main objective was to acquire images of certain selected stars of ongoing photometric and astrometric analysis, in particular SS Cyg and RX And - Secondary objective was to attempt images of 6.2 km diameter NEA 1685 Toro as it passes near earth at 76 LD. .
1685 Toro is a 6.2km diameter asteroid which is passing by the earth today (2008-01-24) at a distance of 76 lunar distance (LD). A short sequence of images of shows its relatively rapid apparent motion.
