- Late Evening Session (3.6 hrs), - Operated under automated control / remote control. Problems with wireless link required several visit to observatory - Ambient Temperature 5 deg C, decreasing to 2.5 deg C by end of session. Poor seeing at times - CCD operation -25 degC (at 66% average cooling). - main objective of the session was to collect images of G2V stars using different filters in order to determine appropriate colour balance corrections - secondary objective of the session was to acquire images of key selected stars for ongoing photometric and astrometric analysis. - opportunity taken to acquire images of certain low declination objects - -

Hubble Deep Field (Ursa
Major) In December 1995 the Hubble Space Telescope assembled an image of a small 2x2' region in Ursa Major over the course of 10 consecutive days. Known as the Hubble Deep Field (HDF), it was was the deepest ever field taken at that time and showed tens of thousands of galaxies out to a distance of 13 billion light years. With an image of 24 minute (total) exposure, objects as faint as +19 are visible, including at least 2 of the brightest galaxy objects in HDF (position of HDF area shown as red polygon) |
