C/2012 X1 (LINEAR) - Comet

C/2012 X1 (LINEAR) - 2013-11-01
(passing through Coma Berenicies)
Sun Distance 2.18 AU

Located around 450 million km from Earth, Comet C/2012 X1 (LINEAR) has undergone an explosive eruption sometime around
21st Oct (2013-10-21). Amateur astronomers report that it underwent a 100-fold increase in the comet's brightness
compared to its predicted brightness.  (Spaceweather.com  page for 2013-10-22)
The comet's atmosphere or "coma" now resembles that of exploding Comet 17P/Holmes in 2007.

Keid - Triple Star

Keid (Eridanus)
Keid is a triple star system located around 16.5 ly away.
Star A (a main sequence orange-red dwarf) was discovered by William Herschel in 1783.
Stars BC was discovered to be a binary pair by Struve in 1851.
Star B was the first white dwarf to be discovered in 1910. Star C is a dim red dwarf.

Star A and the binary pair BC have a wide separation of about 418 AUs and
an orbital period of some 8,000 years.  The B and C pair of stars have an "average"
separation of about 35 AUs in a highly elliptical orbit  that lasts about 252 years
