NGC 309 - Spiral Galaxy

NGC 309 (Cetus)
Galaxy is only just visible in this stacked image due to low S/N. This is a consequence
of significant sky background attributed to the Moon (Phase 63%, 29 arc deg offset) .

PGC 12929 catalog mag +15.6 (Elliptical Galaxy)

SN 2014dz  (Type Ia,  z= 0.0176 ) was discovered 2014/12/20.146 by Robert Gagliano,
Dick Post, Wyck Pattishall, Jack Newton, and Tim Puckett
(Rochester Supernova site | Discovery Image )

The image below was taken 11 days after discovery
The supernova position is indicated by white markers.
The measured brightness of the 2014dz supernova is +16.4
(PGC 213221 galaxy is measured at +15.1)
