Objects Session Notes
Qatar-1 - Exoplanet Host Star TrES-5 - Exoplanet Host Star Photometric Monitoring - Variables - U And, SY Cnc, CN Ori, FO Ori, GK Per, SU Tau,
Astrometric Monitoring - Nearby Stars - Groombridge 34
61 Cyg attempt failure (cloud)
- Evening Session, Duration 2.8hr
Session operated in fully automated mode, but monitored in part over a remote connection.
Sky conditions very poor (poor transparency and poor seeing). Session aborted when cloud & poor sky transparency became too bad.
- Main aim of the session was to take reconnaisance images of a number of exoplanet host stars and new variable stars - 12" LX200 + ST-10XME for imaging - TS 80mm APO + ZWO ASI178MC for guiding & imaging - Ambient Temperature: 5°C (minimum) - CCD Temperature: -20° / 79% av. power) - Notes from 2019-02-12 >>
Qatar-1 (Draco) |
Annotated CCD Image (50% size) 5 x 30s exposure (average combine), 3x3 binning, C Filter 2019-02-12 20:16 UT (#662122-26) 12" LX200R (at f/10.4) + ST-10XME Auto-guided using TS 80mm APO, ZWO ASI178MC & PHD2 |
Qatar-1 through Astrodon
Exoplanet Blue Blocking (BB) Filter Photometric options for measuring a future transit of Qatar-1 b are : a) use a single reference star C1 (GSC 4240:236, V mag +11.03, B-V 0.90) with one check star K (GSC 4240:16, mag +11.8) or b) use an essemble of reference stars C1 to C4 C1 (as above), C2 (GSC 4240:34, mag +11.1, B-V 0.63), C3 (GSC 4240:1343, mag +11.3), C4 ( GSC 4240:905, mag +11.5) Qatar-1: (catalog mag +12.8, B-V 1.06) (Image offset should be increased by 1.0' N to reliably secure all 4 reference stars) |
Annotated CCD Image (70% size) CCD Image (50% size) 4 x 20s exposure (average combine), 3x3 binning, Xo Filter 2019-02-12 20:19 UT (#662127-31) 12" LX200R (at f/10.4) + ST-10XME Auto-guided using TS 80mm APO, ZWO ASI178MC & PHD2 |
Frames have been examined to check whether the exposure time
used (20s) is ok or not. 20s exposure in Xo (BB) filter, 3x3 binning, max pixel values (2030) significantly reduced because of poor sky transparency / thin cloud) Proposal is to repeat exposures at 20s and 30s exposure |

TrES-5 (Cygnus) |
Annotated CCD Image (50% size) 5 x 30s exposure (average combine), 3x3 binning, C Filter 2019-02-12 20:25 UT (#662134-38) 12" LX200R (at f/10.4) + ST-10XME Auto-guided using TS 80mm APO, ZWO ASI178MC & PHD2 |
TrES-5 through Astrodon Exoplanet
Blue Blocking (BB) Filter Photometric options for measuring a future transit of TrES-5 b are : a) use a single reference star C1 (GSC 3949:1179, V mag +10.78, B-V 1.33) with one check star K ( GSC 3949:483, mag +13.7) or b) use an essemble of reference stars C1 to C4 C1 (as above), C2 (GSC 3949:1383, mag +10.42, B-V 1.40), C3 (GSC 3949:717, mag +11.3), C4 (GSC 3949:1817, mag +12.7) (brightest star in image HD 194090, has V mag of +8.93 in too bright) TrES-5: (catalog mag +13.7, B-V 0.93) (Image offset should be increased by 0.6' N to reliably secure all 4 reference stars) but check again |
20s exposure in Xo (BB) filter, 3x3 binning, max pixel values (13420) significantly reduced because of poor sky transparency / thin cloud) Proposal is to repeat exposures at 20s and 30s exposure |
