WHL0137-08 (Cetus) WHL0137-08 is a massive Galaxy Cluster that has been reported to lense the most distant star ever seen.nicknamed 'Earendel' Alias for WHL0137-08 : PSZ1 G155.25-68.42 (Cluster of Galaxies Candidate) in Aladin/Simbad. Earendel's discovery by the Hubble Space Telescope was reported on 30 March 2022. The star was detectable due to gravitational lensing caused by the presence of the galaxy cluster WHL0137-08 between it and the Earth, concentrating the light from the star. Position of WHL0137-08 (not visible) is shown by white circle Poor quality image (single frame/poor sky/cloud) Target to be rescheduled for a future session Adjacent foreground star is GSC 5277:150 (catalog mag 14.7) Two visible galaxies in FOV are PGC 1004133 (catalog mag +16.0) & PGC 1004572 (catalog mag +17.2) |
