UGC 11067 with SN 2024grw (Ophiuchus) SN 2024grw (Type: II) discovered 2024-04-16.821 UT by ATLAS Alias: ATLAS24fvu, Gaia24bit Discovery Magnitude 18.36 (orange-ATLAS Filter) vs Prior Non-Detection Limiting Magnitude 20.09 (ATLAS) vs Historic Magnitude 20.45 +/- 0.05 (Gaia) Gaia comment : Confirmed SN II Gaia, 2024-02-01 06:55, mag 20.44 Gaia, 2024-04-16 19:43, mag 18.60 Gaia, 2024-05-03 06:03, mag 17.49 It is likely that the SN's progenitor is not the same as Gaia's historical object recorded at mag 20.45 +/- 0.05, which is likely a foreground star since the brightening in magnitude (only 3 mag or so ) is not consistent with the 10 mag brightening that would be expected for a SN. The real progenitor would be expected to lay at mag 27 or so. ( TNS 2024grw | Gaia24bit ) |
UGC 11067 with SN 2024grw - 2024-08-06 (T+112.2d) Image below (2024-08-06.972) was taken 112.2 days after discovery of 2024grw Position of reported supernova (very faint) is shown by white cross-hairs Estimated Magnitude +18.9 (Clear Filter) |
