AT 2026kqj (Cygnus)
AT 2026kqj (Type: CV) discovered 2026-04-24.344 UT by GEOTS Alias: GEOTS-Balaji-2026-006 Discovery Magnitude 16.2 (Clear Filter) vs Prior Non-Detection Limiting Magnitude 18 (Clear Filter) Discovered in Cyg using 14" f/2.0 Astrograph at Golden Ears Observatory (MPC code U55). Group reports the discovery of a variable source located in Cygnus. The source has undergone a significant flux increase, brightening by approximately 2 magnitudes since its last recorded observation on April 17, 2026. Notably, the object is an orange star, suggesting a late-type stellar classification. A search of the International Variable Star Index (VSX), Gaia DR3, and the ASAS-SN Sky Patrol database yields no prior record of known variability or cataloged transient activity at this position.
