Nova Del 2013 - Nova (discovered 2013-08-14), V339 Del

Nova Del 2013 (Delphinus)
Nova Delphini 2013 was discovered on 2013-08-14 by Japanese observer Koichi Itagaki at magnitude +6.8. 
Koichi had imaged the same field the day before and nothing was visible at the same location.
The progenitor star was identified from archive images as being magnitude +16.9
Alias:  V339 Del

The image below was taken 25 days after discovery when Nova Del 2013 had faded to around +7.5
The nova is the brightest object in the image.
