Objects Session Notes
EV Lac - (GJ 873) - Nearby Star (16.5 ly) Astrometric & Photometric Monitoring - SS Cyg (dwarf nova)
- SS Her (mira variable)
- BL Lac (blazar)
- RX And, Z And (variables)
- Barnards Star, 61 Cyg, Groombridge 34, Ross 248 (Nearby Stars)
- Late evening session (1.7hr) - cut short by developing cloud. Ambient Temperature 11 degC - An owl was flying around the observatory and adjacent field & houses for around 30 minutes, screeching at regular intervals, at one point flying within 1m of the observatory roof. - CCD operation of -15 degC
(at 72% average cooling).- main objective was to acquire images of certain selected stars for ongoing photometric and astrometric analysis in particular U And, W And
7 baseline astrometric images of EV Lacerta (GJ
873, HIP 112460) were attempted, but spoilt by poor sky transparency.
Image below with 31 stars in plate solution (many very faint) represents the
best image, other images were significantly poorer with only 7-15 stars in plate
solution. Improved baseline images will be collected during a future
session.
(Note : EV Lac is also a UV Cet flare star)
