Objects Session Notes
V777 Her (GD 358) - Pulsating White Dwarf Astrometric & Photometric Monitoring - SS Cyg (dwarf nova)
- W And, U Her, SS Her (mira variables)
- RX And, RU Peg, Z And, CY Lyr, R CrB (variables)
- Barnards Star, Teegardens Star (nearby stars)
- BL Lac, FG Sge, T Tau attempts (failed due to cloud)
- Late evening session (3.6 hrs), poor sky transparency with conditions progressively deteriorating through the session. - Ambient Temperature 12 degC - CCD operation of -15 degC
(at 78% average cooling).- main objective of the session were to a) test updated control software including new procedure for direct slewing to targets with offsets and b) acquire images of key selected stars for ongoing photometric and astrometric analysis. - opportunity was taken to perform a 33 minute long test run on the pulsating white dwarf V0777 Her, in preparation for a future 5 hour run. Sky conditions were poor and test was aborted early.

777 Her / GD 358
(Hercules) Photometric test run Short test run over 33 minutes. Despite poor sky conditions, indicated by variability in control star measurements, the test indicates probable variation of V777 Her with a frequency of 6-10 minutes. Note : Error bars associated with measurements of both V0777 Her and the control star generally widen towards the end of the test, reflecting the deteriorating sky conditions with resulting reduction in S/N. |

V0777 Her - Signal to
Noise Photometric test run Falling S/N values in the graph below reflect the deteriorating sky conditions through the 33 minute test interval. Lower S/N values produce increased uncertainty in the above magnitude measurements. |
