Objects Session Notes
- FIRST LIGHT FOR 12" LX200 ACF + ST-10XME - Evening session (4.9 hrs), largely operated under direct control via observatory laptop. - Ambient Temperature : not recorded (est. 5 deg C) - CCD operation -25 degC (at 56% average cooling). - main objective of the session was to test new LX200R telescope and ST-10XME/CFW10 under night sky conditions. - as part of the testing opportunity was taken to acquire images of a number of objects - Notes from 2009-03-09
Note : Images below were taken at approximately full moon, before any balance and collimation adjustments and without periodic error correction or quantitative focusing. Reduction was with a dithered master night flat. Later tests showed that polar alignment was fairly good. but that scope balance was extremely compromised by the heavy CCD/Filter Wheel equipment.
Stars are somewhat bloated due to some mis-collimation and elongated due to PEC and poor scope balancing.
A more detailed review of the equipment performance (including some 'poorer' image examples) is included on the Session's Notes Page (2009-03-09)
