(Reference: See NASA press release, 2022-03-16 https://www.nasa.gov/press-release/nasa-s-webb-reaches-alignment-milestone-optics-working-successfully). Image is taken through R filter (like the JWST image) |

Cross-Matching |
12" LX200 Image - Non aligned Negative, Cropped, Rescaled Raw Image Scale : 1.399"/px, PictureScale 1.119"/px With picture size of 500 x 336px, the Cropped Image FOV is 9.325' x 6.266' |
Negative CCD Image (125% size, square root scale, cropped) 5 x 120s exposure (average combine), 3x3 binning, C Filter 2022-03-17 03:41 UT (#986018-22) 12" LX200R (at f/10.4) + ST-10XME Auto-guided using TS 80mm APO, ZWO ASI178MC & PHD2 |
Reference Image (DSS2) DSS2 Image captured through Aladin, Negative, Cropped, Rescaled, This DSS2 image doesn't contain much more detail than my own CCD Image and doesn't help in cross-matching to the JWST image |
Reference Image (PanSTARRS) - Detail PanSTARRS DR Image captured through Aladin, Rescaled, Negative, Rotated 80 deg This PanSTARRS image contains more detail than either my own CCD Image or DSS2 image and shows some of the small galaxies seen in the JWST background Image has to be rotated 80 deg left to align with JWST image |
JWST Image - Negative JWST pocket guide ( jwst-pocket-guide.pdf) states the NirCam FOV to be 2 x 132" x 132" with gaps suggesting either 2.2' x 2.2' or 4.4' x 4.4' as expected FOV sizes Original Picture 5437 x 3438 pixels. Assuming this is the original image size and that NirCam pixel scale imaging is 0.031 arc sec/px (from jwst-pocket-guide.pdf) then the Image FOV is 2.809' x 1.776' Certain artefacts in original full size picture suggest at least one picture join which might explain the difference is the FOV from that initially expected Orientation of JWST image isn't given but has been determined to be rotated 80 deg from north. |

12" LX200 Image - aligned and cross-matched to JWST Image Rectangle shows approximate area equivalent to JWST image My CCD image (10 minute total exposure) shows a couple of the background stars seen in the JWST image but not surprisingly it show none of the faint distant galaxies that JWST can see. On the otherhand outside of JWST field of view, my CCD Image has captured the galaxy PGC 61099 (see image) |
