Session Aims & Highlights (2024-11-07)

Main aims

  1. Targets.  Acquire images of a selection of variable stars, nearby stars, comets & deep sky targets as allowed by sky conditions.
  2. Dome Slews. Collect DeviceHub activity data to understand why dome slewing anomalies are occuring whilst dome is slaved.
  3. Crab Nebula.  Acquire 1x1 binned, 60s exposures of M1 / CM Tau to assess the needs/limitations for the Crab Nebula Pulser Project.

Investigation - Dome Slewing Anomalies

Issue

1) Dome Slewing Anomalies during 4 slewing operations, , dome slewing paused (S1162,  00:14, 01:33, 01:55, 03:52).

2) Dome Slewing Anomaly during 2 slewing operations, difference between Dome Az and Slave Az >1 deg (S1162  00:49, 05:52).

3) Two Anomalous Dome Slews recorded (S1264A,  21:17, 21:25)

Description

3) During Slew Testing (with Dome Shutter Closed) two yellow alerts were raised. A 'Dome Slew' alert at 21:17:33 with the message "Dome slew held up at Az. 89.1° (Delay 31s)" and 'Anomalous Dome Slew' alert at 21:25:18 with the message  "Dome slew resumed at Az 305.9° (T+28.1s)". DH Activity logging was active during both slews.
