- 3 hr 10m imaging session
- the main observing plan was to test a bug fix to my automated script program
and continue imaging of some medium brightness galaxies in Virgo
- 16 image sets (galaxies in Virgo) were successfully acquired under automated
script control. Due to sparse stars the 20sec raw locate images failed to image
link and consequentially the galaxy targets are not necessarily centered on the
image frames, however the targets all successfully lie on the image frame.
- some of the images are presented in negative format in order to maximise
clarity of target
-opportunity was taken at the start and end of the session to acquire images of
the Moon and of M27 planetary nebula respectively. (see Notes
- M27 Colour Image Construction )

Plato Plato is the crater with dark floor (diameter 97 km) , lying between Mare Imbrium to south and Mare Frigoris to north. The 'gash' to right of Plato is Valley Alpes. The mountain clump to south of Plato are the Teneriffe Mountains, and to their immediate right is Mount Pico |

Apenninus Mountains Appeninus Mountains bordering Mare Imbrium. The small crater embedded in the mountains is Conon (diameter 21km). The three larger craters to NW in order of increasing size are Autolycus, Aristillus & Archimedes. To the NW of Archimedes is the mountain clump named Spitzbergens. |

The prominent straight wall/scarp near bottom of image is Rupes Recta and beside it is the crater Birt (diameter 18km) The large hexagonal shaped crater at top is Ptolemaeus (diameter 148km). The crater lying on its otherwise smooth floor is Ammonius (estimated diameter 5-8km ) |
