Review  - Image Timed-Out Failures & CCD Camera Freezes

In recent sessions including the S1325 session there have been a lot of Image Time-Out Failures & associated freezing of the CCDCamera process.  Some improvements have already been made or attempted, but there are several areas of improvement still needed.

Geomagnetic Station -  Operation (2025-05-14 to 2025-05-29)

A Geomagnetic Monitoring Station is being added to the Observatory in Spring 2025 for monitoring changes in the earth's magnetic field and to supplement and build upon the Observatory's existing Aurora monitoring that use a Black/White AllSky Camera and new NorthCam Colour Camera.

After a protracted commissioning, diagnosis and remedial period, the Observatory's Geomagnetic Station finally deemed to have entered into Operation on 2025-05-14.  The system comprises

Graphs produced from the Station data are uploaded to website every 10-15 mins and can be viewed on the Geomagnetic Station Charts page.


Remaining Issues
Some residual issues remain, as shown during the period 2025-05-23 to 2025-05-26.  Problems seem to be resolved (temporarily at least) by restarting the SAM III box (i.e. power-off / power on).

Anomalous large/sharp increase in Y Axising reading (2025-05-23 08:34 UT)

2025-05-24 to 25  - Anomalies in magnetometer readings
a) shift due to outage in temperature correction (temperature data absent) c. 16:00-17:00 UT
b) unexplained increase in X/Y readings at 03:00 UT

Temperature data over the same period as graphs show that issue is unrelated to temperature

Rain data from the same day/night. Hypothesis is that cold rain water soaked into ground and cooled subsurface temperatures affecting the magnetometer data even though colocated temperature sensor shows little temperature effect,  so is it the cable that is temperature sensitive.
